THE SHOALS-Youth Leadership Shoals, a program of the Shoals Chamber of Commerce, is currently accepting applications from rising high school juniors for its 2018-19 program.

Applications have been distributed to all Shoals-area high schools, and will be downloaded from the leadership section of the shoalschamber.com website this week. Applications are due to the Chamber of Commerce office by Thursday, April 26, 2018 at 4:00 PM.

Youth Leadership Shoals is a nine-month program that enhances student skills in leadership, professionalism, communication and team building. In addition, participants learn about history, culture, business and economic development while getting to know other students from both Colbert and Lauderdale counties. Participants build relationships and truly become a team with a common vision as they collaborate on a student-led project to benefit the Shoals community. Youth Leadership Shoals enhances cooperation among schools and instills a sense of community pride among participants.

“This program is designed to help students get the extra push they need to succeed,” explained Chelsea Kauchick,

Chelsea Kauchick

Following the application process, students will undergo an in-person interview to be held at the Shoals Chamber office.
The Youth Leadership Shoals committee will select up to 45 students for the program. Selections will be made before the close of the 2017-18 school year. Late applications will not be accepted.
