It is with deep sadness to share that Shirley Williams, age 90, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family. You know she was ready, but the suddenness of her departure has shocked us all. Four weeks ago this Monday, she celebrated her 90th birthday in great style.
On December 29th, she went to the ER with severe stomach pain. She was unaware that she had stage four pancreatic cancer which spread to her liver, and recently, her brain. Mrs. Williams was admitted to Hospice on New Years Eve, and transported to her home New Years Day.
This courageous woman loved life and enjoyed every moment. She was loved by all. In December, she began tutoring a little Hispanic girl, 5, how to read. In the hospital, Shirley was concerned that the little girl would wonder why they were not meeting on January 6th. She was still serving others to the end.
In lieu of flowers, please make a charitable contribution to the charity of your choice. She will be cremated. There will be no funeral, visitation or obituary. Her celebration of life was on her 90th birthday.
While her family is devastated, they know she is in Paradise having the best party possible. She is reuniting with loved ones and will be there to welcome the rest of us. Her family is grateful for your prayers and comforting words through this difficult week. She will be missed, but are grateful that this woman was a rock in their lives. She wanted everyone to live their lives helping others whenever possible. We love you.
