Mrs. Shirley West Holt, 83, of Scottsboro, passed away on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Huntsville Hospital after a short illness due to complications of Covid. She was a member of Bethany (Shake Rag) Baptist Church.
She is survived by her sister, Linda West of Scottsboro; niece, Melissa Cookston (Jimmie) of Scottsboro; nephews, Rodney West (Barbara) of Rose Pine, LA., Emmit H. Smart, Jr. and Trey Smart, both of Huntsville, AL; several great nieces and nephews, cousins, sister-in-law, Virginia Holt; and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harrison Holt; infant son, James Terry Holt; infant daughter, Tina Renae Holt; parents, J.W. and Lillian Sanders West; brother and sister-in-law, Leon and Forrestine West; brothers, Doyle West and John West; sister and brother-in-law, Addie Ruth and Emmit Smart, Sr.; sister, Ann West; and nephew, Ray Smart.
Shirley was employed over 40 years in the garment factories of Benham’s, Champion, and lastly R & W. She truly loved her work and all the work friends she made along the way. She was also an excellent seamstress.
Shirley was unique and an unforgettable character who will always be remembered for loving Jesus, her family, and life.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 with visitation at 11:00 a.m. until time for the service at 2:00 p.m. at Scottsboro Funeral Home with Bro. Jimmy Miles officiating. Burial to follow at Sanders Cemetery at Kyles, AL.
