Shirley Sue Stringer Ours age 68 of Smithville passed away Thursday morning, October 22, 2026, at her home in Smithville. She was born March 28, 1958 in Cookeville, to her parents, the late Jimmy Edwin and Hilda Sue Randolph Stringer. Shirley worked with the DeKalb County Board of Education, Special Ed Department for 32 years and retired in 2023. She was a Freewill Baptist. She leaves to cherish her memory, two children, Jason (Melissa) Ours of Murfreesboro and Amanda (Luke) Randolph of Cookeville; ten grandchildren, Gavin Gunter, Avery Ours, Phoebe (Gavin) Kuhn, Granville Ours, Benny Simpkins, Thomas Simpkins, Nora Ours, Jackson Randolph, Walter Randolph and Hazel Sue Randolph; two brothers, Paul (Teresa) Stringer of Livingston and Ronald (Melissa) Stringer of Smithville; several Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. The family has honored Shirley’s request to be cremated, and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The family would like to extend a special Thank You to the nurses and staff of Adoration Home Health for the love and care shown to Shirley.
