Shirley Smith, 93, of Huntsville Alabama went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and reunited with her husband, Lloyd Smith on May 7, 2021. Born February 17, 1928, Shirley Easter (Mays) Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Smith, her parents and four siblings.
She is survived by her sister, Beverly Hyatt (Ray); three children, Sue Smith (Bob), Vernon Smith (Kathi), Jim Smith (Ramona); six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Born in War, West Virginia and raised in Barbourville, Kentucky, she married Lloyd and moved to Hamilton, Ohio where they raised their family. They moved to the Huntsville area in 1989 where they lived together until Lloyd’s death in 2012. Shirley was a devoted, loving wife and mother, serving in her local church wherever they lived. She was an excellent seamstress and loved to cook. But her passion was gardening – raising and canning all kinds of vegetables.
Visitation will be at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 228 Mt. Zion Road, Huntsville AL 35806 on Wednesday, May 12 from 2 to 3 p.m. with a graveside service to follow at Huntsville Memory Gardens at 3:30.
Family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her name to the Gideon’s International.
