Shirley Rose Wooldridge, 77, died Wednesday, May 6, 2015, at Sanctuary Hospice House after a brief illness. She was born August 3, 1937, to John William Thompson and Nellie Nichols Thompson. She worked twelve years at Jenesco Shoe Company. She became a self-employed florist and in later years worked at Mantachie Florist and Gifts Galore. She enjoyed her family, friends, food, flowers, and her dogs Duke, Bob, and Benji.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 9, at the Shiloh United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bobby Hankins, the Rev. Ronnie Goodwin, the Rev. Ron Schwake, and the Rev. David Thompson officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery. McNeece-Morris Funeral Home of Mantachie is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Wooldridge of Mantachie; a son, Michael Wooldridge (Debbie) of Oxford; a brother, Dewey Thompson (Sue) and a sister, Roxie Lee Cates, both of Mantachie; a special niece, Janice Johnson Whitmon of Mantachie; one grandson, Drew Wooldridge of Atlanta; one granddaughter, Joli Wooldridge Nichols (Mac) of Oxford; and special friends, Debra and Taylor Boyd and Leonardo Mosquera.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Zanna Pearl Wallis, Etoyle Fay Magers, Mary Nell Harris, and Elwanda Jones Cook; one brother, Orville Thompson; two infant brothers; and two infant sisters.
Pallbearers will be John Barry Thompson, Ralph Thompson, Anthony Thompson, Jerry Donald Thompson, Charles Edward Thompson, and Terry Buse.
Honorary pallbearers will be the many nieces and nephews she loved.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 8, and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the Shiloh United Methodist Church.
