Shirley Prince Evans, age 86, of Smyrna, and formerly of Greenbrier, passed away Monday, January 16, 2023 at her home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 19, 2023 at 2pm at the Rock Springs Baptist Church in Greenbrier with Brother Randy Harmon and Brother Robert Tyson officiating. Burial will follow in the Springfield Memorial Gardens with Dink Grogan, Mark Pinkleton, Joe Ford, John Maynard, Brent Bruce and Jesse Moles serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are James Nash, Bob Wooten and Jacky Webster.
Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 12noon until the hour of service at 2pm.
Mrs. Evans was born October 18, 1936 in Rienzi, MS to the late William R. and Mary Rinehart Prince. She worked in education for over 30 years serving as a teacher and guidance counselor at Greenbrier High School. She was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church. She loved her church and taught Sunday School Class there for many years.
In addition to her parents Mrs. Evans is preceded in death by her son, David Evans and her brother, William Prince. Mrs. Evans is survived by her husband of 64 years, Brother Frank Evans; son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Cara Evans; brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard and Angela Prince, Tommy and Treva Prince, and Charles and Kay Prince; sisters and brother-in-law, Jane Browand and Kathy and Jerry Gately; grandchildren, Shelby Evans, Benjamin (Kelsea) Evans, and Alyssa Evans; and great-grandchildren, Emerson Evans and Pippa Evans.
