Shirley NorrellShirley Mae Norrell, 82 passed away Friday, August 16, 2024, at Diversicare of Arab. She was born August 4, 1942, in Morgan County the daughter of Robert Edwards and Bessie Walls Edwards. She was a woman that loved God and her family. She was a long-time member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, loved spending time with family, reading and working in her flower gardens. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She was married to Shirrell Monroe Norrell, who passed away February 15, 1991.

She is survived by her children: Scott Norrell (Natalie), Shelby Norrell Elkins, Dewayne Norrell (Donna Cantrell) and Lynn Norrell; grandchildren: Jessica McCollum (Ross), Kayla Stubblefield (James), Matthew Norrell (Kristina), Joshua Elkins (Dixie), Cynthia Elkins (Mason), Sarah Elkins and Tosha Ditto (Chris); eighteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded by her husband: Shirrell Norrell, grandson: Danny Cantrell, parents: Bessie and Jack Jackson.

Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 19, 2024, at Gober Funeral Chapel with Brother Greg Narrell officiating. The burial will be in Eddy Cemetery, Gober Funeral Chapel directing. Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Monday at Gober Funeral Chapel.

Pallbearers: Josh Elkins, Matthew Norrell, James Stubblefield, Mason Callahan, Jordan Weaver and Ross McCollum.

The Norrell family would like to extend a special thank you to Diversicare of Arab for the care and support for the family during Shirley’s long illness and stay. Also, a special thank you to Compassus Hospice for their compassion and care during her final few months.
