Shirley Mae Hale, of Guntersville, Alabama, formerly of Waterford, Michigan, passed peacefully at her home the morning of March 6, 2026.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Hale; her parents, David and Ruth Rouse; her children Harold and Charlene; her stepson Jeff; and her siblings Ed, Harold, and Sally.
She is survived by her son Andy and daughter Sandra; her stepchildren Scott , Ellen, and Karen; and a large, loving family of grandchildren, great‑grandchildren, and great‑great‑grandchildren who knew her affectionately as Ommie.
Shirley was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church and spent many dedicated years as a head cashier at Kroger in Michigan, where she met the love of her life. After retirement, Don and Shirley enjoyed traveling and spending time with family, especially their grandchildren.
Ommie will be remembered as a devoted mother, the heart of her family, and a gentle soul who adored animals. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her name to
