Shirley Lynn Taylor Powell, age 89 of Murfreesboro, TN, but formerly of Fosterville, TN, passed away Thursday, August 28, 2025. A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Edgar Lynn Taylor and Louise Burris Taylor. Mrs. Powell was also preceded in death by her husband, Milton Wyatt Powell, sisters, Patsy Edwards and Emily Fleming, son-in-law, Eric Miller, and stepmother, Margaret Alexander Taylor.
Mrs. Powell is survived by her daughters, Rhonda Powell Smith of Murfreesboro, TN, Donna Powell Miller of Bell Buckle, TN; grandchildren, Colin Wyatt Miller and his wife Allison of Bell Buckle, TN, Maegan Miller Hunsinger and her husband Matthew of Murfreesboro, TN, and Kaycie Smith Hensley and her husband Barry of Fayetteville, TN; great-grandchildren, Bentley Royston, Olivia Hunsicker, Kai Bimson, Stella James Miller, Maxton Hunsinger, Mavery Hunsinger, Lakin Hunsinger, and Charlotte Hunsinger.
Visitation with the family will be held from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM Sunday, August 31, 2025, at Woodfin Memorial Chapel. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday, August 31, 2025, following the visitation with Bro. Jeff Adcock and Carter Woodruff officiating. Burial will follow in the Fosterville Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Mrs. Powell was a 1954 graduate of Christiana High School, a member of the Christiana Church of Christ and a Co-Owner of S & S Alterations.
