Shirley Joan Hunt, age 87, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose greatest joy in life was her family. She was a woman of strength, kindness, and unconditional love. Her home was a place where family gathered, memories were made, and everyone knew they were loved.
Throughout her 87 years, she touched the lives of so many with her gentle heart, wisdom, laughter, and caring spirit. She treasured every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and took great pride in watching her family grow.
She is survived by her children, Clayton Young (Marcheta), Niaka Alexandria and Dustin Hunt; grandchildren, Sean Alexandria (Anna), Kelly Miller (Brandon), Zachary Young (Krista), Michael Young (Ashley), and Aiden Hunt; great-grandchildren, Zander Miller, Maddox Miller, Lily Young, Liam Young, Colton Young, Aubrey Hunt and Andrew Alexandria; along with many other beloved family members and friends who will forever cherish her memory. She was preceded in death by her father, Wyat Eldridge Murphy; mother, Laverna Beatrice Murphy; brother, Jackie Murphy; sisters, Mattie Smith and Frankie Curry; son-in-law, Jim Alexandria; and husbands, Herbert Young and David Hunt.
Though our hearts are broken by her passing, we are comforted knowing that the love she gave us will remain a part of our lives forever. Her memory will live on through the family she loved so dearly and the countless lives she touched.

Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 17, 2026, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery immediately following services.
