Shirley Jean Burks, age 74 of Winchester, passed way on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at St Thomas Rutherford Hospital. A native of Franklin County, she was born in Winchester on March 12, 1947 to the late John T. and Margie Ailine Walls. Shirley was a feisty, strong-willed and independent woman who was a “Mother Hen” to her family. She enjoyed going shopping, hanging out with her special angel, Jacey, listening to music and dancing, and watching her nieces and nephews’ ballgames. In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Daughtery, brother, Franklin D. Walls, and great-nephew, Wylan Watson. She is survived by her brother, Justin Walls of Decherd; nieces, Valerie (Thorpe) Watson of Decherd, and Melissa Walls of Decherd; and nephew, Derek (Kelly) Walls of Decherd; great-nieces and nephews, Caitlyn Spry, Aidan Walls, Tristyn Barnes, Wyatt Watson, Austin Smartt, Dawson Smartt, Jacey Walls, and Wryder Watson; and her partner, Rick Lewis of Illinois. Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, April 30, 2021at Mt. Garner Cemetery with Rev. Ross Peterson officiating and Thorpe Watson, Ethan Hill, Kyle Tucker, Kelly Jackson, Terry Kelley, Daniel Spry, and Trenton Long serving as pallbearers.
