Shirley Dean Jones, 91, of Huntsville, passed away Monday, June 22, 2026, peacefully at home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob Anson & Gracie Irene Stewart and eight brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas L. Jones; sister, Mattie Ann Hayes (Charles); four children, Rick Fouts (Peggy), Charlotte Fouts, Todd Fouts (Anita) and Dimitri Fouts; nine grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
Shirley was born in Ten Mile, Tennessee, near Tellico Plains. Throughout her life, she lived in Tennessee, Florida, and Alabama. She enjoyed a career as a flight attendant with Eastern Airlines and Northwest Airlines. It was in an airport that she met the love of her life, Tom, and the two were blessed with twenty-eight wonderful years of marriage. In 2005, they made their home in Huntsville, Alabama.
Shirley was a faithful and beloved member of Hampton Cove Church of Christ. She found great joy in yard work, gardening, sewing, decorating, shopping, and expressing her creativity through art. Known for her warm spirit and engaging personality, Shirley was a gracious and kind lady who brought joy to those around her. She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched.
Memorial service will be held at Hampton Cove Church of Christ, Sunday at 12:30 PM with Keith Hodges officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Hampton Cove Church of Christ or New Hope Care Center in honor of Shirley’s memory.
