Shirley Blanton Ward, age 81, passed away peacefully at her home in Woodstock, GA on Friday evening, August 28, 2020, surrounded by her husband, Joe, and their two daughters. She was born on December 13,1938 in Whiteville, Tennessee to Troy and Lula (Abernathy) Blanton. She graduated from David Lipscomb High School in Nashville, TN. Married Joe W. Ward on August 18, 1956 in Spring Hill, Tennessee. Shirley was dedicated to her family. Together, she and Joe had two daughters. She enjoyed sewing, reading and volunteer work. She is preceded in death by her sister, Helen Blanton Wright. She is survived by her husband, Joe Ward; two daughters, Joy (Frank) Markley of St. Cloud, FL and Joanna (J) Burnett of Marietta, GA; five grandchildren, Benjamin Taylor (Arvada, CO), Alan Taylor (Littleton, CO), Grant Burnett ( Kennesaw, GA), Thomas Burnett (Marietta, GA), and Annalise Burnett (Marietta, GA); and three great-grandchildren, Breana Taylor, Jack Taylor, and Sam Taylor. A Graveside Service will be conducted 2:00PM Wednesday, September 2, 2020 at Williamson Memorial Gardens. Visitation is one hour prior to the service. Jim Taylor will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association in Shirley’s memory.
