Shirley Ann Nelson Keeton, 88, Cherokee, passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2026. A graveside service will be held Friday, April 17, 2026 at Harris Chapel Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. with Chuck Lansdell officiating.
Shirley retired from the Board of Registrars of Colbert County. She attended Harris Chapel Baptist Church and was a member of Eastern Star. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Williams Keeton; parents, Wilmer and Frankie Owen Nelson; brother, Wayne Nelson and sister, Brenda Lou Nelson.
She is survived by her children, Debbie Keeton of Birmingham, AL. and Neal Keeton (Heather) of Cherokee, AL, granddaughter, Katelin Wallace (Jay) of Cherokee, AL, and a host of nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Jay Wallace, Malcolm Waldrep, Greg Robinson, Chuck Lansdell and Bobby Nelson. Honorary pallbearers are Dexter Waldrep, Jerry Nelson, Bobby James, and Sam Williams.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
