Graveside Services for Mrs. Shirley Ann Cowan, age 85 of Lineville, will be held on Friday, February 7, 2025 at 12:00 P.M. at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery with Bro. Clay Lovelady officiating. There will be no public visitation; however everyone is welcome at the Graveside Service.
Mrs. Cowan passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2025 at her home. She was born in Rochester, New York and spent the first 20 years of her life there. After graduating high school, she worked in a pickle factory, where she ultimately met her husband. After they married in 1959, they moved to Alabama, living in Cleburne, Calhoun, and Talladega Counties before settling in Clay County over 30 years ago. Mrs. Cowan was a homemaker, staying at home to raise her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed bird watching, collecting Elvis Presley memorabilia, and adored cats. She also enjoyed going to church singings, going to auctions, and spending time outside in her garden. Mrs. Cowan was a honest woman, and her opinion was straight to the point. She raised her children to be independent, but loved her family genuinely. She was a loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.
Mrs. Cowan is survived by one daughter, Regina Mitchell (Randy) of Delta; two sons: Steve Cowan (Carisa) of Barfield and William L. Cowan Jr. (Al) of Anniston; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents: David Daniel and Anna Mae Binder, and her husband, William L. Cowan Sr.
Danny Mitchell, Adam Crumbley, Austin Cowan, Josh Cowan, Colt Elmore, and Robert Wallace will serve as active pallbearers.
