Shirley Ann Birdwell, 80, of Rogersville died Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2016 at ECM Hospital in Florence. She was born Sept. 27, 19335.
Visitation will be Saturday, Aug. 13th from 10 a.m. to noon at Rogersville Funeral Home. The funeral will be immediately folowing with Johnny Stringr, O.C. Birdwell, and Jerry Cury officiatiang. Burial will be at the Romine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brian Birdwell, Ike Newton, Dillon Birdwell, Wesley Birdwell, Daniel Burns and Daniel Luffman. Honorary pallbearer, Matthew Birdwell.
Mrs.Birdwell wasa loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was retired from the Lauderdale County School System. She was a Christian and was a member of the Confluence Church of Christ. She loved and respected God and His word. To her family, she exemplified the characteristics of the virtuous woman found in Proverbs 31, “Who can find a virtuous woman? For her worth is far above rubies.”
She was preceded in death by her son, Glenn Birdwell; parents, Henry and Myrtle Birdwell; brothers, Buck and Junior Birdwell; sisters, Edna Earl Birdwell, Edith Birdwell, Olivia Vaughn Newton and Sarah Wright.
She is survived by her husband, Lester Birdwell; children, Anthony (Carol) Birdwell, Stanley (Catherine Birdwell, Melissa (Malcom) Newton and Jerry (Tammy) Birdwell; brothers, Wilson “Wick” Birdwell and Ed Birdwell; sisters, Frances Birdwell and Connie Thomas; brothers-in-law, Pharis Birdwell and O.C. Birdwell; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
