Shirley Ann Aycock – Obituary

F.1.25.19 Shirley Aycock.jpgShirley Ann Aycock, 81, passed away on January 22nd, 2019. She was a native and lifelong resident of Colbert County. Ms. Aycock was a graduate of Colbert County High School Class of 1955 and Florence State College Class of 1959 (now University of North Alabama) and taught school in Colbert County for many years at Underwood School and Hatton Elementary School. She was a member of Valley Grove Baptist Church where she taught Bible school and Sunday school and worked with the Girls Auxiliary (GA’s) for many years.

Ms. Aycock was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene Franklin and Ethel Mae Willis Aycock; four brothers, Leroy, Clifford, Frank and Tom Aycock; and two sisters, Ida Aycock Sparks and Ada Aycock Crick. She is survived by a number of cousins, nieces and nephews including special nieces, Carolyn Aycock Willich, Patsy Aycock Kelley; and nephew, Steve Sparks.

Visitation for Ms. Aycock will be at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia, from 1 to 3 p.m. today, January 25, 2019 with service following at 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Greg Beasley will officiate. Burial will be in Glendale Cemetery. There will be no graveside service.

Pallbearers will be Larry Allen, Johnny Nixon, Steve Houston and Wane Jeffreys.

Family members wish to express sincere gratitude to the staff and residents of the Cottage of the Shoals, Tuscumbia, and Compassus Hospice for the immeasurable care, friendship, and love shown her while a resident there.
