Sherry Peacock went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 13, 2021. With the help of Avalon Hospice, she was able to pass peacefully with her husband and one of her sons by her side. A native of Franklin County, she was born in Decherd on February 13, 1952, to the late Thelma Mae Steele. She was raised by her grandparents, the late Earl and Beulah Steele. Sherry will be greatly missed by many who loved her. She had a multitude of friends, but the one she always called her best friend was Jan Schwart Jones whom she called Russ. Also, Shirley, Genna, and Tonya with hospice were so good to her and became friends. Sherry loved living life and always liked to have fun and cut-up with all who knew her. She was a dedicated housewife and loved being at home with her kids. She would rather have all the kids in the neighborhood at her house just so she would know where her kids were. Sherry became a Christian in her middle twenties and lived like it the rest of her life. Her husband and kids were able to say their goodbyes, and she said, “This is how I always hoped it would be.” In addition to her mother and grandparents, Sherry was preceded in death by her aunts and uncles, Ruby Lavergne Steele, Rufus Harold Steele, Charley Henry Steele, Ruthie Ann Steele, and Billy Woodrow Steele. She is survived by her loving husband, Larry Peacock; children, Marty (Theresa) Peacock and Rocky (Julie) Peacock; grandchildren, Cassie, Colby, Lexie, Lana, Collin, and Colton; brother and sister, Reana and Taldon Cole; aunts and uncles, Edith Lucinda Steele, Georgia Earlene Steele, Jerry Thomas Steele, Judith Lee Steele, Melinda Jean Steele, Melissa Joan Steele, and Juanita Steele. Also, a special thanks to neighbor, Connie Eby who made and brought smoothies over every morning at 6:30 am for two months to help Sherry feel better. Visitation will be from 5-8 pm on Saturday, August 14, 2021, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 pm on Sunday, August 15, 2021, in the Moore-Cortner Chapel with Pastor Willie Brunosky and Pastor Richard Reed officiating. Interment will follow at Brownington Cemetery. Moore-Cortner Funeral Home, 300 First Ave NW, Winchester, TN 37398, (931)-967-2222
