Funeral service for Shelia Phillips Johnson, age 66, of Decatur, will be Saturday, September 27, 2014, 1:00 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Chris Martin and Bro. David Phillips officiating. The family will receive friends for three hours prior to service. Interment will be in Macedonia Cemetery.
Ms. Johnson went home to be with her Lord and Savior, and to be with her son, Randy McDougle. She was welcomed in the arms of angels on Wednesday, September 24, 2014. Ms. Johnson was born June 17, 1948, in Morgan County, to Willard Phillips and Marie Bynum Phillips. She was preceded in death by her son, her father, and her brother, Steven D. Phillips. Ms. Johnson retired from Decatur General Hospital as Emergency Department Patient Supervisor following 23 years of dedicated service. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, and was an avid Alabama football fan.
She is survived by her daughter, Daphne McDougle of Asheville, NC; her mother, Marie Phillips of Decatur; one brother, Marty Phillips of Moulton; one sister, Sherry Gailey of Decatur; and several nephews and nieces, whom she cherished.
Pallbearers will be Brent Gailey, Chad Gailey, Dylan Ray, Brad Phillips, Mike Bice, and Wayne Walls. Honorary pallbearer will be Phil McCutcheon.
