Shelia Clemons Rhodes – June 4,1953- February 13,2023
A native of Florence, Shelia was the daughter of Hugh L. and Blanche Clemons. She grew up in the Rhodesville community and graduated from Waterloo High School where she met the love of her life, Joe Rhodes. Joe and Shelia celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on December 2nd.
She attended Shoals Community College and worked as an Ob/Gyn nurse for many years.
She was a member of St. James United Methodist Church and a founding member of the Circle of Hope 30 years ago. The friends she made in this group were some of her greatest treasures.
Shelia loved traveling, crafting, and socializing. She had an abundance of friends and she never met a stranger. She was a wonderful wife and mother, but her true calling was as a grandmother. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and she spent the last 18 years devoted to being their biggest fan.
Shelia is preceded in death by her parents, Hugh L Clemons and Blanche Clemons, her brother George Clemons, sister; Jenny Shook, Father-in-law; Will Rhodes, Mother-in-law; Lois Rhodes, Brother-in-law; Ronnie Rhodes, Sister-in-law, Brenda Rhodes; and niece, Elizabeth Woods.
She is survived by her husband Joe Rhodes, daughter; Emily Rhodes, son-in-law; Will Powell, grandchildren Kate, Martha Caroline and Benton Powell, Brother-in-law; Carl Rhodes (Sheila); Nephews; David Shook (Sharon); Gary Shook (Carol), David Rhodes, and Charles Woods; nieces; Jessica Shook, Tonia Hanson (Tim) and Heather Hargett; special friend, Jackie May.
