Shelby Jo Ayers ‘Shelbo”, age 53, of Double Springs, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 29, 2025. She was born, September 26, 1971, in Double Springs, Alabama to James and Joy Ayers. Shelby was full of life and always on the go. She was always plotting to do something adventurous. Shelby lived life to the fullest enjoying scrap collecting. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2025 from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. at Nichols funeral home in Haleyville, where a funeral service will follow beginning at 2:00 p.m. Burial Will be at Moreland Cemetry in the Moreland Community. Shelby is survived by her son, Justin (Ariel) Cleghorn; granddaughter, Bailey Mckenna Cleghorn; sisters, Nancy (Gary) Hammersley, Joy Burns, Christine “Darlene” Hulsey; special nieces and nephews, Bretta Adams and Tyler Lawernce; along with a host of other nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Joy Ayers; sister Brenda Ayers; brother Woodrow Allen; grandparents Woodrow and Gertrude Downs, and Elbert and Hazel Ayers; and niece, Ginger Lashae Lawrence. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests donations to be made to Nichols Funeral home to help cover Shelby’s funeral expenses.
