Mrs. Shelby Jean Woodruff Owens of Birmingham went home to be with the Lord on January 8, 2015. Mrs. Owens was a graduate of both Lakeside High School in Decatur and Tennessee State University in Nashville, TN. She taught in the Nashville, Decatur and Birmingham Public School Systems. She retired in Birmingham. Mrs. Owens, better known as Jean, is survived by her mother, Mrs. Annie Jo Woodruff; two sons, Kevin Owens and Keith (Vicki) Owens; three grandchildren; her sister, Mrs. Carolyn Bradshaw; and many other relatives and friends who will always cherish her memory. The Homegoing Celebration for Mrs. Owens will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2015, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church of Birmingham with Pastor Mark Machen officiating. The interment will follow at 3 p.m. in Sterrs Cemetery in Decatur. Davenport & Harris directing.
