Shelby Jean Hilliard, age 84, of Albertville, Alabama, passed away peacefully on July 30, 2025. Shelby was a devoted wife, loving mother, and cherished friend to many. She was reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband, James “Buddy” Hilliard, who passed away in 2022.
Shelby was known for her kind heart, creative spirit, and deep love for her family. She was incredibly crafty, with a special talent for painting porcelain dishes and kindling unique works of art that she often shared with those she loved. Her gentle presence and warm personality left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her son, John C. Hilliard; sisters-in-law, Tinca Hilliard and Linda Williams; and brothers-in-law, Johnson (Beth) Hilliard and Clyde (Debbie) Hilliard. Shelby was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy Hilliard; daughter, Ronda Lee Hilliard; parents, Charles and Chloe Henry; brothers, Lenord Henry, and Jack Henry; and in-laws, Corlin and Beatrice Hilliard, as well as sisters-in-law Geneva Irvy and Nancey Moore.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Beulah Baptist Church with Bro. Tony Holcomb officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery. Shelby will lie in state at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Adams Brown Service Funeral Home.
Shelby’s memory will be forever cherished by those who were fortunate to know and love her.
