Shelby Jackson Gargis, 83, of Florence, passed away Saturday, June 20, 2026, at home. Shelby was a retired crane operator with TVA. He was a member of First Assembly of God, Florence, AL.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 23, 2026, from 1-2 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral will immediately follow at 2 p.m. in the chapel. A private burial will be held at Greenview Memorial Park.
Officiating the service will be Pastor Greg Woodall.
Shelby was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Virginia Mae Gargis; brothers, Jim, Billy Joe, Claude Gargis; sister, Louise Gargis; son, Samuel Jackson Gargis; granddaughter, Elizabeth Lynn Skipworth.
He is survived by his wife, Patsy Gargis, Florence, AL; daughter, Jennifer Lynn Skipworth (Dennis), Leighton, AL; sister, Martha Elaine Wilson (Jay), Muscle Shoals, AL; grandchildren, Megan Nicole Gargis, Scottsboro, AL.
