Developer John Elkington reveals re-imagined plans for Inspiration Landing
SHEFFIELD – Developer John Elkington of Memphis, Tuesday afternoon gave an update on the progress at Inspiration Landing’ Entertainment District. Inspiration Landing, in the works now for several years, is a large multi-use residential, shopping and entertainment development in West Sheffield that is promised to pump new lifeblood into the city. Major construction is expected to begin early next year.
Ground was actually broken 2 years ago, with roads and utilities installed, along with an outdoor music venue. Last year there were a number of very successful music concerts there. But with COVID-19 seemingly grinding everything in the world to a standstill, the development had to slow down progress. Always seeking the proverbial silver lining, the City and Elkington took the downtime to re-imagine the development. And it really looks exciting!
The first step is to get utilities extended further into the site so that several exciting new restaurants can open in a beautiful park-like setting, featuring food and entertainment, the likes of which simply haven’t been seen here in The Shoals.+
