FLORENCE-The Florence Police Department issued a release concerning a drowning that occurred on Saturday, December 3:
“On December 3, 2022, at approximately 9:30 AM, Officers responded to the area of South Poplar Street to a downing subject. A fisherman, fishing by boat, had located the body and called police.
Officers located Charles Hollis deceased in the water. Hollis was 69 years old and resided in Sheffield. Hollis appeared to have fallen in the water while fishing from the bank and according to the family he could not swim.”
