Sharon Kay Jaycox Neely, age 67 of Decherd passed away on Monday, November 2, 2020. Sharon was born on August 3, 1953 in Effingham, Illinois to the late Charles and Burnita Merz Jaycox. In her younger years she worked at the Pompano Downs as a horse trainer, specializing in Morgans and Harness racing horses. She then worked as a permitting supervisor in Marion County Florida for 20 years, and finally ended up at The Franklin County Library for the past 5 years. Sharon was a member of the White Oak Grove Church of God. In her free time she loved to read her bible and James Patterson novels, ride horses, or spend time watching the Smithsonian Channel. She was a compassionate, loving, and sophisticated woman that will be missed greatly by all who knew her. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Charlie” Neely; sibling, Rhodene Elliott and her four legged best friend, Cujo who died by her side. She is survived by her children, Teddy (Crystal) Nickerson of Huntland, Josh (Vicky) Nickerson of Estill Springs; grandchildren, Cierra, Blaze, Trace, Kaitlyn, Kinsley; great-grandchild, Daxon; brother, Jimmy Jaycox; several nieces, nephews, cousins. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. – 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home, with the Funeral Service following at 3:00 P.M.
