Shannon Marie Mathews, nee Davis, 49, of Ardmore, Alabama, entered her heavenly home on May 31, 2025, after a sudden illness. She passed away after a short but incredible fight for her life with her loving, faithful husband, David Bo Mathews, by her side.

Shannon was born on April 9, 1976, to Margaret and Michael Davis in El Paso, Texas. She graduated from Sparkman High School in Harvest, Alabama, in 1994. After graduation, she attended and graduated from the University of Alabama in Huntsville with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Shannon enjoyed a diverse nursing career ranging from cardiac care and hospice care in North Alabama to travel nursing across the Northeastern United States. Shannon was united in marriage to David Bo Mathews on September 20, 2014.

Shannon is survived by her husband, Bo, one daughter, Sarah Eavan Mathews (Luke Moats), two loving dogs, Freya Bruin and Runa Bergeron, her parents, Michael and Margaret Davis, her grandmother, Mrs. Margaret Hutsko, one brother, Sean Michael (Kamara) Davis, maternal uncle Peter (Sue) Hutsko, cousins Crystal Smith, Theresa Richards, Adrienne Smith, and Riley Smith, two paternal uncles, Ken Davis and Wayne Davis and cousins Dirk, William, Loren, Carol and Jared Davis. Her mother-in-law, Mrs. Leta Mathews, brother-in-law, Brian (Michelle) Mathews, nieces, Bea (Sam Bunch), Corrina (Andrew Lacy), and Tessa Mathews, and nephew Elliot Mathews. Special friends include Lori and Eddie Coats, Candace and Jason Daniels, Jenny and Buster Frith, Shelly and Josh Fox, her Section 221 Hockey Family, and other close friends.

In addition to her paternal grandparents, Alice and Alex Davis, Shannon was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Peter Hutsko, uncles Tim Davis, William Davis, Robert Davis, and father-in-law, Doctor Robert “Bob” Mathews.

Shannon was passionate about her family, friends, Boston Bruins Hockey, Huntsville Havoc Hockey, the Dallas Cowboys, the New Kids on the Block, George Strait, LEGOs, gnomes, red pandas, travel, good food, and her dogs.

A Celebration of Life will be held June 6, 2025, at Most Merciful Jesus Catholic Church, 10509 Segers Road, Madison, AL 35756. Service will begin at 3 pm CST with a reception to begin immediately after on location. The family requests that donations be made to the Melissa George Neonatal Memorial Fund in care of Huntsville Hospital Foundation or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
