20533477_BG1ATHENS-Police Chief Floyd Johnson gives a report on several break-ins reported Friday, April 24th, to pharmacies in the Athens area.  Here is what Police Chief Johnson has to say:

“This morning around 5:30 am the Athens Police Department received a call of a burglary alarm at Eastside Pharmacy on US 72 east. When officers arrived they found where person or persons unknown had entered a common area between businesses and attempted to break into the pharmacy. Entrance was not made to the pharmacy.
Shortly before 7:00 am this morning Officer Brandon Colburn was checking other pharmacy’s and found that the drive thru window at Athens Pharmacy had been broken out. Video from the pharmacy showed 3 people were involved in breaking into the pharmacy around 5:00. Once inside the store a trash can was taken and medication was put into the can then the suspects left. At this time we don’t have a list or amount of medication taken.
Also this morning officers found the drive thru window at Westside Pharmacy on West Market Street had damage. There was no entrance made at Westside Pharmacy.
We’re asking if anyone has any information about any of these cases that they call the Athens Police Department at 256-233-8700.
Also Jones Drug Store in Ardmore was broken into. We feel all these cases are related.”
