Seibert receives NW-SCC President’s Award for the Shoals Campus

MUSCLE SHOALS-Luke B. Seibert, of Cherokee, Ala., recently received Northwest-Shoals Community College’s (NW-SCC) most prestigious honor when he was awarded the President’s Award for the Shoals campus.

While maintaining a 4.0 grade point average, Seibert has been an active member of SkillsUSA. In 2014, Seibert was the winner of the Alabama State SkillsUSA Carpentry competition and placed fourth in the National SkillsUSA competition. He also received the 2014 Alabama and Shoals Homebuilder’s Scholarship.

Seibert’s contributions to improving his community include rebuilding houses in Phil Campbell and Hackleburg, Ala. in the aftermath of the 2011 tornadoes, as well as mission trips to Derby, Kan. and Oneida, Ky.

As a Carpentry major, Seibert has completed an internship with Country Boy Construction and is currently interning with Five Star Enterprises, Inc. in Rogersville, Ala.

The President’s Award is the most prestigious honor awarded by NW-SCC. The faculty submits nominations to the Award Committee for the final selection. The recipient must have earned a grade point average of 3.7 or higher. Also, the recipient must have demonstrated leadership and actively participated in community service while attending NW-SCC.
