SHEFFIELD-On Friday, January 3 Sheffield Police Chief Ricky Terry issued a press release regarding the shooting that took place on Wednesday, January 1.
UPDATE: Francis Marion has been taken into custody. This all the information we have regarding Francis Marion as more information becomes available we will get it to you here.
“On 1/1/2020 Sheffield Police received a call in reference to a Robbery in the area of Manning Homes. While officers were in route to the robbery they received more information that there was possible gunshot victim in the same area. when officers arrived they found a male, later identified as James Darrell McDaniel, lying in the street with an apparent gunshot wound to the lower abdomen. He was treated on the scene and air lifted to Huntsville Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
Officers were given information by a witness that the offenders were a male and female. Before the victim was transferred to
Huntsville he was able to give officers the name of the female suspect as Francis Ann Marion. They fled the scene on foot and ran toward a wooded area around the river. A search perimeter was established and Sheffield Police was aided by ALEA Aviation and Tuscumbia K-9 units. Officers were unable to locate any suspects during the initial search. Information was later received identifying the male suspect as Jordan Terry Gardner and a possible location of said suspect. Officers set up surveillance at an apartment in the area of the original call. Officers were able to apprehend Gardner outside the apartment. Gardner was taken into custody and transferred to Sheffield City Jail.
I would like to thank Tuscumbia Police Department and ALEA Aviation for their help. Everyone that was involved in this case from Patrol to our Detectives did an outstanding job in the apprehension of Jordan Terry Gardner. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s family.
