FRANKLIN COUNTY-After the all clear today at Russellville High School a 16-year-old was taken into custody. The teen is a student at Russellville High School and is charged with making a terrorist threat and rendering a false alarm.
Later on Thursday, October 6th another bomb threat was made via the same social media app, Yik Yak at Tharptown High School. This resulted in Tharptown High School also being evacuated.
Police K9 Officer Greg Kirby and partner “Toby” assisted in the search of Tharptown High
School along with FPD Sgt. Chris Ticer and partner “Iva” following thebomb threat at the school. Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and Russellville Police were also
working jointly on the cases with assistance from the University of North Alabama Police Department. and Florence Police Department.
There also has been an arrest made in the case at Thraptown as well. Sheriff Shannon Oliver said a 17-year-old student from Tharptown High School has been charged with making a terrorist threat.
According to investigators the threat at Tharptown is a copycat threat from the Russellville threat. The boys in eachb case knew each other.
