ATHENS – For years, residents in the City of Athens have welcomed the start of the fall season by creating and adorning scarecrows for homes and businesses.

That is why the City of Athens is excited to introduce the inaugural Scarecrow Strolls, which are being held throughout the month of October at various locations within city limits, including Isom’s Orchard and the Historic Beaty District.

This special event is sponsored by the Athens Mayor’s Youth Commission and is designed to promote outdoor adventure in the city for both residents and new visitors to explore Athens. This unique fall event aims to not only bring the community together, but to also highlight the creative minds of our residents.

The scarecrows are on display at Isom’s Orchard, located at 24012 US-72, Athens, AL 35613, as well as in the Historic Beaty District and throughout Downtown Athens.

At Isom’s Orchard, local organizations showed their creativity by sponsoring scarecrow entries, each carefully designed to reflect the mission of their sponsor. These entries were then judged and ranked for best design.

All this is an effort to highlight the creativity of the community in Athens. The Scarecrow Strolls serve as a visual reminder that creativity and community continue to thrive in Athens.
