Sarah Virginia “Cricket” Phillips – Obituary

cricketSarah Virginia “Cricket” Phillips, 87, died Saturday, October 4, 2014, in the comfort of her home. The Eggville/Union Grove native was the daughter of the late Cardo Esker Harmon and Jessie Jane Hopkins Harmon. Virginia attended Union Grove Family Worship Center of Mooreville. Her career consisted of a cosmetology license, and she retired from the North Mississippi Medical Center in the medical records department. She was known by the locals as the Eggville Gas Lady for the past five years during the July 4th Holiday.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 8, at Union Grove Family Worship Center in Mooreville with Bro. Ben Raper officiating. Private burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery. McNeece-Morris Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include son, Alton Dennis Hutcherson Jr. (Teresa Brock); daughter, Tina Hutcherson Wilburn, all of the Eggville Community; grandchildren, Trent Hutcherson (Tami), Tasha Wilburn Dozier, Shane Hutcherson, Lacee Wilburn Hall (Chris), Dylan Hutcherson (Erica); great-grandchildren, Kylee Hutcherson, Madison Hall, Marley Hutcherson, McKenna Hutcherson, and Rosalyn Hall.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Cardo Esker Harmon and Jessie Jane Hopkins Harmon; her brother, George T. Harmon; spouse, Alton Dennis Hutcherson Sr. (1956) and spouse, Quinnon Phillips (1981); and a grandson-in-law, William Lowry Dozier, Jr.

Pallbearers include Kenny Hankins, Chris Hall, Trent Hutcherson, Shane Hutcherson, Dylan Hutcherson, and Curtis Brock. Honorary pallbearers will be Farris Loftin and Donald Ray Bishop.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and from noon to service time Wednesday at Union Grove Family Worship Center in Mooreville.
