Sarah “Rene” Pickett Garoppo, 90, of Madison, AL, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 26, 2020. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Sullivan, her 10 siblings, and several nephews.
She is survived by her daughter, Irene Garoppo, Madison, AL, daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and Butch Ruehlman, Huntsville, AL, son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Anita Garoppo, Madison, AL; granddaughters, Kristen Garoppo and Chelsy Palmer; grandsons, Keith Burgess and wife Tiffany, Jeremy Garoppo and his wife Amber, and Buddy Ruehlman; eight great-grandchildren, BJ Ruehlman (Sterling), Zana Ruehlman, Colton Burgess, Trinity Ruehlman, Keelie Wood, Fisher Wood, Loralei Garoppo, and Zephyr Garoppo; and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
Sarah was a faithful member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church for over 55 years. She’ll be well remembered for her delicious baked goods, as one of the Joyful Bakers at the Parish.
The family will receive visitors at Berryhill Funeral Home on Monday, November 30 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 1.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church Building Fund, 2300 Beasley Ave, Huntsville, AL 35816, or the donor’s favorite charity.
