Sarah Joy Hargrove, 83, of the Prospect-Ardmore community passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Athens Hospital in Athens, Alabama.
She was born on Monday, September 22, 1941, in Bethel, Tennessee to Mr. Maynard Russell Carter and Mrs. Minnie Clara Pitts Carter.
She was of the Baptist Faith and enjoyed conversating, drinking her coffee, getting dressed up to go shopping.
She is preceded in death by both of her parents, her husband of 53 years; Norris Coleman Hargrove, one brother, Charles Wayne Carter, two sisters; Emma Jean McGill and Betty Shirl Pullen, one daughter-in-law, Susan Leigh Hargrove, as well as one grandchild, Dakota Lane Hargrove.
She is survived by one son, Gregory Coleman Hargrove, one daughter, Tammy Joy Lewis, three grandchildren: Timothy C. (Brianna) Hargrove, Blake (Jessi) Lewis, Zach (Hannah) Hargrove, several great-grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, as well as one special friend, Shirley McDougal.
A Visitation will be held for Mrs. Hargrove on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home in Ardmore, Alabama from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM. A Funeral Service is scheduled to follow Visitation with service time beginning at 3:00 PM. Bro. Jamie Mitchell will be officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, located in Prospect, Tennessee.
Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home will be assisting the family with services.
