Sarah Faye Hammett – Obituary

Sarah Faye Hammett, 82, passed away Saturday, March 30, 2019 at NMMC in Tupelo, MS.  She was born in Tishomingo County, MS to Clonel L. and Bessie Pitts McRae.  She worked as a seamstress for many years.  She was a member of Old Bethel Methodist Church and wrote the Red Bud News article for the Belmont Journal for 25 years.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 2, 1 p.m. at Old Bethel Methodist Church with Bro. Donnie Riley and Bro. Steve Kennedy officiating.  Burial will be in Old Bethel Cemetery.  Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS will be in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by four daughters-Ann Clingan (Kenneth) of Dennis, Susie Roberson (Donald Ray Thomas) of Belmont, Lynn Gattis (Rick) of Dennis and Denise Harden (Terry) of Red Bay; five grandchildren-Shannon Roberson (Bridgett), Corey Roberson (Megan), Jack Gattis (Dawn), Shiann Wooten and Dakota Wooten and five great-grandchildren-Bryson, Anslie, Talynn, Naomi and Nathan.

She was preceded in death by her husband-A.C. Hammett; her parents, four brothers-Millard, Leland, Johnny and C.L. and one sister-Linda.

Pallbearers will be Shannon Roberson, Corey Roberson, Jack Gattis, Donald Ray Thomas, Jack Ivy and Terry Stanley.

Visitation will be Monday, April 1, 6-9 p.m. at Old Bethel Methodist Church.
