Sarah Pearson Profile Photo Sarah Elizabeth Vaughan Pearson, 96, peacefully passed away on March 10, 2024 at NMMC Gilmore in Amory.  She was born in Hatley to the late Ellie Lee Vaughan, Sr. and Mary Ella LaviesVaughan.  She was a graduate of Hatley High School where she was able to graduate as a junior and was the Valedictorian of her graduating class.  In 1947 she married Lee Roy Pearson.  Sarah worked as a switchboard operator for Bell South.  She also worked in the lunchroom at Hatley School and finally, she worked at Sears in Amory.  Sarah was fortunate to have lived her entire life on her family home place, which now holds many great and fond memories. She was a devoted Hatley Basketball fan and looked forward to each game she was able to attend.  Sarah loved working outdoors in her yard, sitting and watching cars go by or just simply going for a ride looking at the sights.  Sarah also had a bit of a sweet tooth for chocolate and would often joke that she had outlived every doctor who told her that chocolate wasn’t good for her.  She was raised in a family that consisted of her and 7 siblings. From early on in life she knew the importance of a strong family bond.  She enjoyed a close relationship throughout the years with her siblings.  Sarah was a devoted and proud mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  The most important relationship in her life was her relationship with the Lord.  Each day, Sarah would devote a portion of her day to reading and studying her Bible.  She was a faithful member of Hatley Missionary Baptist Church.

Sarah is survived by her daughter, Sherry Lewis (Sammy); son, Van V. Pearson (Sheila); sister, Jane Vaughan Sanders; grandchildren, Kyle Lewis (Katie), Sara Beth Bagwell (Jacob), Colby Pearson (Alix), Chase Pearson (Lydia) and Clay Pearson (Cassidy); great grandchildren, Rhett Bagwell, Luke Bagwell, Samara Lewis, Cullen Pearson and Kate Pearson; sister’s in law, Nancy Vaughan and Glinda Smith; brother in law, Dennis Pearson; special friend, Charlotte Ritter; a host of nieces and nephews.
