Sarah Elizabeth Smith Hughes, 86, of Florence, died Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013. Her family will hold a private service at a later date.
Mrs. Hughes was a native of Memphis, Tenn. She received her registered nursing degree from Memphis State University. She was preceded in death by her sons, Thomas McCrory Hughes Jr. and John Burgess Hughes.
She is survived by her daughter, Grace Fox and husband, Graham; grandchildren, Burgess and Frances Fox; and brother, Gerald Smith and wife, Ouida.
