Sarah Elizabeth Porter Sherrill, age 84, of Cherokee, died Saturday, November 9, 2013. The family will receive friends for visitation on Monday, November 11, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., at Morrison Funeral Home, Cherokee. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m., at the Cherokee Church of Christ, with Carl Seigenthaler and Lance Foster officiating. Mrs. Sherrill will lie-in-state from 1:00 p.m. until service time. Interment will be in Mynot Cemetery.
Mrs. Sherrill was born in Houston, Mississippi, on November 13, 1928, to the late Gilbert and Maybell Brown Porter. She was a loving wife and mother. Sarah loved being outdoors, and her flowers and garden were her life.
Survivors include her husband of sixty-three years, Larry Sherrill; son, Mark Sherrill and wife Mary; brothers, Robert Porter and Jimmy Porter; sister, Estelle Stott; and many other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Morris Carraway, Larry Barnes, Jimmy Thomason, Murry Tate, Ken Blackstock, and Jerry McCallister. Honorary pallbearers include Jimmy and Phil Alston.
