Funeral Services for Mrs. Sarah Ann Miller, age 79 of Ashland, will be held on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland at 2:00 P.M. with Bro. Jason Watkins officiating. Burial will follow at the Clay County Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Miller passed away on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at the Clay County Nursing Home. She was a lifelong resident of Clay County and a 1962 graduate of Clay County High School. Out of High school, she began sewing adult and children’s clothing for the local public. After having her two children, she worked as a beautician and hair stylist for several beauty salons. She eventually attended Ayers Technical College and received her cosmetology degree. Mrs. Miller last worked for Wellborn Cabinets from 1980 until 2009 as a payroll clerk until she retired. Mrs. Miller enjoyed listening to music, clogging and dancing, as well as playing piano. Her pride and joy were her children, and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had an upbeat and happy personality, was always smiling and talkative to her friends and family, and was a member of Sardis Baptist Church.

Mrs. Miller is survived by two children: Kim Walker (Mark) of Ashland and Mark Miller (Darcie) of Birmingham; five grandchildren: Brittney Bowen (Michael), Skylar Tillis, Brandy Johnson (Eli), Samantha Tillis, and Brody Walker; two great-granddaughters: Ellie and Sarah; one brother, Ronald Hamil (Marie) of Alexander City, plus a large extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Robert Harlan and Eva Lee Kennedy Hamil; 2 sisters: Juanita Glenn and Ruby Jean Jones; and two brothers: Dick Henderson and Billy Joe Hamil.

Active Pallbearers will be Jerry Glenn, Robert Jones, Winford Jones, James Henderson, Brody Walker, and Dewey Clifton. Honorary Pallbearers will be the staff of Clay County Nursing Home.

Her visitation will take place on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
