Graveside Services for Mrs. Sara Jo Harkins Griffin, age 90 of Ashland, will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at Liberty Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Richie Farrow officiating. According to her wishes, there will be no public viewing or visitation prior to her graveside services.
Mrs. Griffin passed away on Monday, May 31, 2021 at the Clay County Nursing Home. A lifelong resident of Clay County, Mrs. Griffin graduated from Clay County High School, class of 1948, and worked for the Auburn Extension Services as a Home Demonstrator, and was also the owner and operator of Meme’s Daycare. She loved spending time with her family and was a member of Liberty Hill United Methodist Church.
She is survived by four daughters: Susan Midgette (Danny) of Lincoln, Judy Pruet (Ed) of Daphne, Lisa Queen (Ivey) of Alexander City, and Beth Smith (Rusty) of Ashland; 8 grandchildren: Matt Lipham (Michelle), Andy Lipham (Rhonda), Ali Robbins (Brett), Abby Pruet, Daniel Queen (Danielle), Will Queen (Lauren), Hunter Smith (Amber), and Holly Walker (Justin); 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; one sister, Polly Mattox (Grant) of Mobile; and a large extended family.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, William Nicholas “Bill” Griffin; her parents: Willie Joe Harkins and Mary Lois Danielly Harkins; one sister, Ann Harkins McCain; and one great-granddaughter, Ivey Marie Queen.
Pallbearers will be Matt Lipham, Andy Lipham, Daniel Queen, Will Queen, Hunter Smith, and Justin Walker.
