Sandra Kay Womack Profile Photo Sandra “Sammy” Womack of Meridianville, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2026. She was 70.

Sandra was a homemaker who loved her family deeply and especially adored her grandchildren. She also had a special place in her heart for children in general. Friendly and outgoing, Sandra never met a stranger and enjoyed spending time visiting and talking with others.

She loved to cook, plant flowers, work puzzles, and shop at thrift stores and yard sales. Sandra was also a devoted Elvis fan and enjoyed listening to Randy Travis.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lakin Alexander and May Alexander; her sister, Bernice Thompson; her brother, Donnie Wayne Alexander; her aunt, Shirley Lanford; and a special chosen family member, Gracie Hill.

Surviving family members include her son and daughter-in-law, Lakin and Emily Womack; her daughter and son-in-law, Daphine and Seth Browning; her daughter and son-in-law, Catherine and Brad Thompson; her grandchildren, Catie Thompson, Waylon Womack, and Ella Womack; her brother, Robert Lee Alexander; and her best friend, Anna Patterson; her niece, Janie Thompson; She is also survived by special chosen family members Ronnie Patterson, Caleb Hill, James Glyndon Grear, William Patterson, A.J. Patterson, Pauline Grear and Brian Lauritzen.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Hazel Green Funeral Home with Brother Wayne Christmas officiating. The family will begin receiving friends at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Following the service, burial will be in Bottoms Cemetery in Athens, Alabama.
