Sandra Rowalnd UntchSandra Rowland Untch, age 72, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, passed away on September 13, 2025.

Born on March 30, 1953, in Raleigh, North Carolina, Sandra was the daughter of the late Homer and Hazel Rowland. Her life was a journey through various places she called home, including Willow Springs, North Carolina; Greenville, North Carolina; Clemson, South Carolina; and finally, Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

A dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse, Sandra began this second career after earning a nursing degree from Middle Tennessee State University. She had also previously graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in Zoology after which, for her first career, she worked as a medical laboratory technician for the ECU School of Medicine, Division of Transplant Surgery and later for Clemson University’s Animal Science Department. She retired as a school nurse from Rutherford County Schools, where she cared for countless students with kindness and expertise.

Sandra was a woman of many passions. She was an avid fan of University of Tennessee football, a testament to her playful spirit despite her educational ties to rival schools. Her hobbies included pickleball, geocaching, and traveling, which she pursued with great enthusiasm. A devout Christian, she was an active volunteer for community activities through her church. She also had a love for music, especially performances by Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake, and Lindsey Stirling.

Sandra is survived by her devoted husband of 33 years, Dr. Roland Untch, and their beloved daughter, Dr. Michelle Untch. She also leaves behind her four loving sisters: Rebecca Rowson (David), Terri Jones (Randy), Susan Tingen (Bill), and Vicki Daulton (Mark).

A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 20, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church in Murfreesboro, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Sandra’s name to the American Lung Association.
