Sandra Ross NixSandra Ross Nix was born at Fort Benning, GA, on October 30, 1939. She grew up in Phenix City, AL, attending Phenix City High School. After graduation, she attended Auburn University, where she was involved in many organizations and held a leadership role as the President of Panhellenic. Auburn Panhellenic was voted the nation’s best that year. She was also quite the beauty, selected Loveliest on the Plains and Miss Homecoming 1960. At Auburn, she met her loving husband, Lloyd, and they married shortly after graduation. She supported Lloyd in all of his community and Auburn involvement.

She and Lloyd had two daughters, Denise Nix Slupe and Natalie Nix Page, and six granddaughters. Nandy, as she was affectionately known by family, was an amazing mom and a beloved grandmother. She took great joy in times spent at the beach and with family. When those two things came together, she was really in her happy place. She loved all of us in a big way.

She is survived by her daughters Denise Nix Slupe (Frank), Natalie Nix Page (Steve), six granddaughters, Caroline Slupe Boswell (Will), Abby Slupe, Olivia Slupe, Lauren Slupe, Ashley W. Goodwin (Chase), and Kate W. Bolton (Tyler); and five great-grandchildren, three of whom were finally boys.

A celebration of life will be held at Central United Methodist Church on Saturday, February 15, at 1:00, with a visitation to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations being made to:
The Lloyd and Sandra Nix Memorial Scholarship Fund
This scholarship will be awarded to an Auburn University EAGLES program student annually.
The EAGLES program at Auburn University educates and serves students with intellectual disabilities. Lloyd and Sandy were heartfelt supporters of this program, hoping it would offer greater opportunities to students like their granddaughter, Lauren, who was born with Down Syndrome.
