Sandra Kaye Hudson Stephens was born on December 17, 1958, in Columbus, Mississippi to the Reverend Herschel Hudson and Doris Vail Hudson. She passed on January 6, 2024, in Huntsville after a valiant fight against ALS with family around her. Sandra was a lifelong learner. She accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior as a young child. She began playing the piano at an early age, playing as a church organist and pianist at different times throughout her life. She served in different capacities in her community including the business sector and faith family. She was an elder at the Big Cove Presbyterian Church.

 

Sandra graduated from Walker High School in Jasper, Alabama in 1977. She attended and worked at Walker College and graduated from the University of Montevallo in 1981 with a degree in Finance and later Birmingham Southern College in Accounting. She loved the business world and excelled throughout her career. She began her career as a teller and worked her way through the financial world as a vice president, Chief Financial Officer, Bank President, and retired in July 2023 after 43 years in the finance and banking sector from Keel Point as the Chief Operations Officer and Chief Financial Officer. She treasured the many relationships and friendships developed over her life.

 

Sandra loved to travel and was fortunate to travel many places with family and friends. She loved vacationing at the beach with her family. She and her sisters enjoyed going on adventures together.

 

She is preceded in death by her parents, the Reverend Herschel Hudson and Doris Hudson of Jasper, Alabama. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Jeff Stephens of Owens Cross Roads, Alabama; son, Kenton (Margaret)Stephens of Huntsville, Alabama; daughter, Diana Stephens of Washington D.C.; sister, Brenda (Mike) Elliott of Nauvoo, Alabama; sister, Donna H. Kilgore of Jasper, Alabama; mother-in-law, Doris Stephens of Jasper, Alabama; much loved nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 20th, 2024, at Cove Church (366 Old Hwy 31 Hampton Cove, Al. 35763) with a reception to follow.
