Sandra Janice Lowery Buckner, age 72, resident of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Janice was born on September 16, 1944 in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of the late Averon Lowery and Dorothy Hendrix Lowery. She was the wife of the late Arthur Buckner. Janice was retired from home health care, most recently having worked at Hidden Acres Nursing Home in Mt. Pleasant. She was a member of the Locust Street Church of Christ in Mt. Pleasant. She loved people and they, in return, loved her. She always had a smile on her face and a beautiful laugh.
Survivors include her sister, Marcia (Freeman) Lowery Carroll of Lewisburg; nephew, Zachary Turner; aunt, Linda (Jackie) Boshers, uncle, Jimmy (Deane) Hendrix and sister-in-law, Linda Lowery. In addition to her husband and parents, Janice was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Rosa Lynn Buckner and a brother, Steven Lowery.
Funeral services for Janice will be conducted Friday January 6, at 10:00 A.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Terry Chapman officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington Cemetery.
The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. and on Friday from 9:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Zachary Turner, Freeman Carroll, Hendley Edwards, Josh Stevens, Jeffery Carroll, Jason Boshers and Josh Boshers. Honorary pallbearers will be past and present members of the Locust Street Church of Christ and residents of Mt. Pleasant Village Apartments.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
