Funeral for Samuel “Sam” Gene Davis, 72, of Chalybeate will be Friday, January 23, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Parkway Funeral Home Chapel with Mike McCulloch officiating. Burial will be in Smyrna Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.
Mr. Davis, who died Tuesday, January 20, 2015, at Lawrence Medical Center, was born June 9, 1942, in Wheeler to Eugene Davis and Ora Lee Davis. He was a member of Smyrna Baptist Church. He enjoyed gardening, flowers and helping everyone in the community. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers, Roger Davis, Willard Davis, Nathaniel Davis and Jerry Davis.
Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Jerrie Ann Davis; two daughters, Stephanie Davis and Penny Davis Howard and husband, David; one grandchild, Colton Joseph Davis; two stepgrandchildren, Marissa Howard and Drew Howard; and two sisters, Oradean Letson and Joyce Brown.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Newman, Jimmie Letson, Oscar Kirby, Timothy Hill, Timothy Davis and Sonny Hill.
