Sammy Miles, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away September 16, 2023 at the age of 85 in Corinth, MS. Sammy was born the youngest son of Pete Miles and Lessie Miles, January 21, 1938 in Alcorn County, MS. After a short stint in the United States Air Force, Sammy moved to Memphis, TN., where he met his wife, Evelyn Cooper Miles. They were married on December 30, 1960. In 1966, after the birth of their first son, Kenny, they moved to Corinth, MS. Sammy and Evelyn continued to grow their family, adding two more children, Rhonda and Keith, and made their home in Corinth for the next 57 years. Sammy worked in the auto parts business and finished his career with Napa Auto Parts in 2000. Following retirement, he worked for several years at Magnolia Regional Health Center as a security guard where he enjoyed serving the community and bringing a friendly smile and words of encouragement to all those he met. The things he enjoyed most during his retirement were fishing, traveling, caring for his lawn and tinkering in his shop. Sammy fiercely loved his family and was his happiest when he was surrounded by them, especially his seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. They were the light of his life, and their visits brought him such joy. He couldn’t help but give each one a nickname. As health issues arose the last few years, Sammy was a constant support and caregiver for Evelyn and selflessly served her needs. He was truly the picture of endless devotion. He always had a smile, a word of encouragement, a joke and a nickname for almost everyone he met. He was always looking for a way to lend a hand. Sammy was a faithful member of Oakland Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. In addition to his wife, Evelyn, Sammy is survived by 2 children, Kenny Miles and wife Donna and Rhonda Arthur and husband Eric; his grandchildren, Jordan “Grasshopper” Miles, Katie “Little Britches” Cooper and husband Coop, Meagan “Popcorn” Erwin and husband Trent, Ashley “Peanut” Gross and husband Cody, Landon “Bud” Miles, Marlie “Gracie” Miles and Myah Arthur; his great grandchildren, Meredith Kay Erwin, Micah Leland Erwin, Owen Samuel Gross and Nora Lynn Gross; 3 nieces and their families; other relatives and a host of friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Andrew Miles, Ebie Miles Rainey and Vernon Miles, and his son, Keith Samuel Miles. In lieu of flowers you may make donations to Gideon International, Oasis Medical Center, Oakland Baptist Church Sheltering Tree or your favorite charity. The family would like to thank the staff at Stoneridge Assisted Living in Farmington, MS, who have lovingly cared for Sammy for the past 2 1/2 years as he has lived there with Evelyn. Also, a special thank you to the staff in the SICU at Magnolia Regional Health Center. Magnolia Funeral Home has been honored to serve the family of Mr. Sammy Miles.
